Not to be too vulnerable on the internet but my 2022 roller derby body is what I miss the most and probably give myself the hardest time about. Several medical events, stress, and the aforementioned agoraphobia have worked together to bring me back to the exact same weight and shape I was in when I first ran off to AZ in 2018. Even though I have hundreds of hours of old footage and livestreams that desperately need to be edited and posted and, God willing, monetized, I can’t make myself spend more than a few minutes reviewing them before I have to stop because of how low it makes me feel. Livestreaming is just as hard which is why you’re hearing from me in a long winded text post instead.
There’s so much that I have to be grateful for and excited about in my current life and I’ll share more about that another time I promise. For today, I needed to name some of the things that I’m still grieving and I appreciate all of you who took the time to read this.

I miss going to the goth night at the small, local gay bar and seeing familiar faces and being excited about someday joining the ranks of the elder goths that formed the backbone of that community.
I miss the people I consider to be my first “grown up” friends. Wonderful individuals who knew me outside of high school and college and still were able to forge unbreakable bonds with me and give me so many memories that I will always treasure.
I miss my best friend, who moved all the way from Illinois to Arizona so we could start a new chapter in our lives. She’s still there with her new fiancee and while I’m thrilled for her and the life she’s building for herself, my heart hurts when I think about how elated I was to live with her after so many years of wishing on a star for us to just be in the same state again.
I miss being able to go to the grocery store and know confidently that no one from my high school gym class was going to bump into me.
Sometimes I miss all of the alone time I used to have which really helped with my work flow because I am easily distracted. Years of being in an LDR with my wonderful wife have conditioned me to want to spend as much time as possible together and honestly even while I’m writing this it’s kind of a challenge to not shut my laptop and kiss her.

1/3 Hey friends, fans, and lurkers. I am trying to find ways to still engage with my audience online even though, quite frankly, I’m not in a great place. So here’s a bit of a trauma/lore dump for those of you who are interested.
My life looks very different now than it did a few years ago when I started cultivating my online community. For awhile now I have felt homesick even though I have been back in Chicago for more than 2 years at this point. Usually the twinge in my heart just caused a bit of a creative block that was easy enough to power through. Recently it’s been bringing my entire operation to a full halt. I haven’t been able to livestream, take pictures, or make any of my normal content without having anxiety attacks that are so severe my joints freeze and I struggle to hold a conversation.
I spent most of my 20’s in North Phoenix and have a very complicated relationship with the southwest. It’s as terrifying as it is beautiful and I’m sure I will elaborate on that in the future but for now all I can focus on is everything that I miss. The sunsets, the mountain backdrop, the basketball court at my apartment complex that made it so easy for an agoraphobe like myself to rollerskate to my heart’s content.
